Enns, Peter. Ecclesiastes. The Two Horizons Old Testament Commentary. Grand Rapids: William B. Eerdmans Pub. Co., 2011.
This commentary arrived yesterday and I have already read the whole thing. It is persuasive and helpful. Several years ago I read Longman's commentary on the book and was familiar with some of Enns arguments from class at WTS, all of which help explain why I was able to read it so quickly. However, it was simply something that I did not want to put down (I was compelled to even read the footnotes along the way). This book is a must read for all who struggle with doubt or despair as well as for pastors everywhere, do not let the fact that it is a commentary scare you away.

Of the Inequality of Sin (that some sins are greater/worse than others)
That great Sinners when pardoned and received to Mercy, should excell all others in Love to Christ, Luke 7:42-43-- Which of them will love him most? Simon answered and said, I suppose that he to whom he forgave most. And he said unto him thou hast rightly judged.

Of keeping the Law
Wherein doth the perfect keeping of God's law consist? A. It consists in the perfect and constant Conformity of the internal and external Actions of Heart and Life, to every Command of God, Gal 3:10 -- Cursed is every one that continueth not in all Things which are written in the Book of the Law to do them, Matt 22:37-39 Jesus said unto him, thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy Heart, and with all Thy Soul, and with all Thy Mind. This is the first and great Commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy Neighbour as thyself.
Hence our need for Jesus.

Old, Hughes Oliphant. Worship: Reformed according to Scripture. Rev. and Expanded Ed. Louisville, Westminster John Knox Press, 2002.
This book really opened my eyes and taught me a lot about our tradition and worship.

Bavinck, Herman. Our Reasonable Faith: A Survey of Christian Doctrine. Trans. Henry Zylstra. Wm. B. Eerdmans Pub. Co., 1956.
This is one volume and much more accessible to the lay reader than his Reformed Dogmatics (4 vols.). Bavinck really can help you see things you have never noticed before about Scripture. The book was originally published in Dutch under a title that translates as The Wonderful Works of God.
